destination guide: denpasar (bali)

looking for flights to denpasar (bali)

For an island 100 times smaller than Australia, Bali has so much to offer as a getaway destination. The vast majority of the island’s revenue comes from tourism – and for those who travel there, it’s not hard to see why. There aren’t many places that offer adventure, natural wonders and places to party, all with a stunning beach backdrop. tigerair’s cheap flights to Denpasar make Bali an affordable holiday for everyone.
Whether you’re after direct Bali flights from Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, the island is close by and easy to get to. You’ll find what you’re looking for when you fly tigerair to Bali – and a lot more!

famous beaches

Bali offer stretches of yellow sand - complete with surfboard hire, umbrellas, and coconut hawkers - around almost every corner. For surfers, a visit to Kuta beach is a must. Those with more time should head to Uluwatu to surf at the world famous Ulu Beach Peak. If a long stretch of paradise is more your style, check out Jimbaran Bay south of Kuta airport, or head to Sanur for a serene amble through the sand.

natural wonders

Drive out of Kuta and Seminyak to explore Bali’s natural wonders. Take a speedboat from Sanur beach to Nusa Lembongan, an island famous for its surreal turquoise waters. The more adventurous can scuba dive down underneath them for sightings of the famous mola mola – which looks convincingly like giant fish cut in half. While you’re there, make a sunset trip to see the Devil’s Tears and watch walls of waves pound against the island’s cliffs.
Bali may be a perfect beach destination, but some of its most amazing wonders are found on land. Head to Seragan Island and take a walk along Bali’s Mangrove forest. These beautiful trees are a vital part of the regions ecology, and grow up to seven hundred years old.

active holidays

If you’re the kind of person who would rather be running on the beach than lying on it, Bali has you covered. Cycling tours are available in almost any part of the island, and give riders a unique chance to explore small villages, secret back roads, and home-style Balinese cuisine. If you’re craving a jaw-dropping view, walk the Campunhan Ridge Trail, near Ubud. From dense jungle to waist height grass, the selfie opportunities are rampant.
The art of yoga has flourished in Bali in those past years, along with the island’s own brand of Buddhism. Ubud is Bali’s yoga mecca, boasting plentiful studios with aspirational names like “Radiantly Alive.”

spa & beauty

Another of Bali’s wonders is the ability to purchase a massage, body scrub, and spa, for less than the cost of an Australian meal. Whether you’re looking for an ocean spa, beauty spa, healing spa, outdoor spa, or detox spa, you’re likely to find a two hour package for less than $25. More outlandish options include coffee baths, cocoon spas, gorilla massages or snake therapy.

holiday with kids

If you are travelling with kids in tow, you’ll be glad to know Bali has plenty of family friendly activities to offer. Sanur’s Safari and Marine Park provides children the chance to ride an elephant, or watch the animals at feeding time. Close by, for children under ten, is Peek A Boo, an indoor playground that will give you a moment to relax. Nothing in Bali however, is likely to beat Kuta’s own Waterbom. Situated on 3.8 hectares, this waterpark boasts waterslides and flowriders which your children can ride until they are exhausted. Relax at the end of the day by tubing slowly down the man made river.

where to party

Bali’s nightlife is world famous, and Kuta and Seminyak are literally where it’s at. Entrance to bars is usually free, and happy hours stretch long beyond an hour. Legian Street and Padma Street house most of the younger, wilder bars, while clubbing in Seminyak draws a somewhat more mature crowd. Live music is also popular, and musicians jam on at Kuta’s Hard Rock Café until 2am.

fun facts and oddities

There are a lot of odd things about Bali, but one of the oddest may be Indonesia’s “Kopi Luwak.” The world’s most expensive coffee, Kopi Luwak is made from beans collected from the excrement of civets. Another fun oddity is Ubud’s bamboo chocolate factory. The world’s largest commercial bamboo building, visitors can inspect the structure and even have a chance to make chocolate. Finally, Nyepi day, Bali’s day of silence, is celebrated in March every year. No work, travel, or even noise is allowed.

your bali experience

From its culture and nightlife to its nature and scenery, Bali is a destination that is completely unique. There are just as many different holidays on the island as there are travellers. Whether you want to get active, get relaxed, or get the kids to have fun, tigerair will take you there. With our great service and affordable airfares, you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
