You’ll touchdown at the Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport (PPP) and have a few options to get where you need to go. You can catch a bus outside the terminal and buy your ticket (for about $15 a person) at the booth inside the arrival gate. You can plan on getting a taxi for about the same price but you might not find one waiting for you so plan on pre-booking your bus ticket ahead of time.
Australia’s Whitsunday Coast is a quaint peninsula town that is perfect for families, adventurists, or romantic getaways. The most popular place to be on the coast is Airlie Beach which provides vacation fun in several ways. It’s an outpost to the Whitsunday Islands, gorgeous beaches, and of course the world famous Great Barrier Reef. By day you can be snorkeling with tens of thousands of sea creatures, and by night you can be enjoying drinks or a meal with your loved ones.
Great Barrier Reef - This is a place that well…needs no explanation. Anything you want to do that involves water and beaches you can do here. Bring an underwater camera cover, and remember to stay hydrated too. You could spend weeks around the reef and never take it all in so look around, pre-plan, and enjoy every second of this once in a lifetime destination.
South Molle Island - South Molle is filled with wildlife, national parks, and the Adventure Island Resort where you can golf, play tennis, or spend your day snorkeling. You can hike through the rainforest, go sailing, and for the more rugged individual, you can even go camping under the stars.
Proserpine - Visit Proserpine to get your fill of shopping, charming cafes, and artisan wonders. It’s a town with a country feel that’s known for its coffee plantations in the surrounding regions too. If you love coffee, make sure you visit Whitsunday Gold Coffee, you won’t be disappointed.
Hamilton Island - If you like coral reefs, wine, food, beaches, and golfing you may want to stay here for a while. Hamilton Island is a treasure within a treasure that has everything to offer for families or single folks. You can scuba, snorkel, golf, and make sure that you visit the Hamilton Island Yacht Club for a romantic night out or a dip in the sea.
Long Island - This slender slice of paradise is like one gigantic beach. As the name states, it’s long and slim. You could walk from one side of the island to the other in just a few minutes at the widest point. It’s a beachcombers dream with hiking trails everywhere, coral reefs in all the bays, and scenery so breathtaking, you’ll never want to leave.
Jubilee Pocket - This pocket of nature is only a few minutes away for the popular and buzzing Airlie Beach. If camping, hiking, and wildlife is what you’re after, Jubilee Pocket has it. You can retreat into the tropical rainforests and get lost in the acres of natural beauty for hours on end. It’s a nice alternative to the business of the city that will relax your mind as you enjoy the simplicity of one of Australia’s hidden gems.
Hook Island - Hook is known as a snorkeling and diving hot spot. It’s largely a national park with island trails to traverse, caves to explore, and plenty of sea life that will leave you speechless.
Airlie Beach - The place to be on the Whitsunday Coast is Airlie Beach. There’s nightlife, resorts, hostels, fine dining, and just about everything you can think of at Airlie. It’s the world famous hub of the Whitsunday Coast without a doubt. You can lay out, stretch out, or dine out all in one place. If you visit in July you can be a part of the Rum Bar Maxi Regatta or the Whitsunday Reef Festival which is a hub of entertainment for the entire family all in one place. August is when the Airlie Beach Race Week happens which usually attracts over 100 yachts. No matter when you show up, you’ll fit right in. Airlie Beach is made for travellers and tourists alike and never, ever disappoints.
The Whitsunday Coast is somewhere few people in the world get to see or experience. It’s a place that feels magical, surreal, yet at the same time, like home. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a holiday with the family, you’ll be 100% satisfied with the Coast. If you want adventure, or are bunking it in hostels across the continent, the Whitsunday Coast is a place you don’t want to pass by. Everything the Coast has to offer is like a vacation within a vacation and each day you’ll wake up to a new adventure. Our airfares to the Whitsunday Coast out of Sydney are some of the lowest around and we’d be happy to make your dream vacation get off to a flying start.
