Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) is just 8km south of the city. Allow up to 40 minutes to get to and from the airport. Key services such as taxis and shuttle buses are available but the most efficient mode of transport is a 15 minute ride on the AirportLink train which travels between domestic and international terminals and main stations in Sydney for just over $16.
Cairns International Airport (CNS) is located 6km north of the city centre and welcomes visitors to the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and beyond. The Sun Palm Group offers shuttle transfers to the Cairns city centre as well as Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and Mission Beach.
Just like the great natural wonders on the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, Cairns has its own collection of natural and cultural sights to see. Learn about the vibrant and unusual plants of the tropics at the Flecker Botanic Gardens, or discover the stunning Spanish castle at Paronella Park or learn to perform an authentic Australian bush dance at the Cairns Night Zoo
If you love a bargain, head to Rusty’s Markets on the weekend or shop for exquisite jewelry and souvenirs at Orchid Plaza. You can even potter though unique little shops or market stalls along the Cairns Esplanade where you can admire public art, go swimming in a salt water lagoon, or catch the live music from the open bars at sunset.
Treat yourself to the freshest seafood from the Coral Sea and fine produce of the Atherton Tablelands at one of the restaurants along the Esplanade or on Shields and Wharf streets.
Sydney’s beautiful, protected harbour is a hive of activity both on land and in the water. Adventure hunters can climb the Harbour Bridge, go jet boating on the harbour, or walk high above the city on SKYWALK at the Sydney Tower. Sports fans should book in for a tour the famous Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the Sydney Football Stadium.
Experience all that this city has to offer, from a performance at the Opera House, high tea at the Queen Victoria Building, or sample some exotic Asian cuisine in the corridors of Chinatown.
Head out to Bondi Beach for some sun, sand and surf before finishing off your stay with a refreshing cold beer at the trendy pubs in Surry Hills and Paddington.
